ممکن است در گذشته اتفاقی افتاده باشد و در حال توصیف آن باشید. اگر زمانی را که شما در حال توصیف یک موضوع هستید، آن عمل قبل از آن زمان ادامه داشته و بعد از آن هم ادامه پیدا کرده است، بهترین گزینه برای توصیف آن استفاده از ساختار گذشته استمراری است.
به عنوان مثال:
At midnight, everyone at the party was still having fun. در نیمه شب هم هنوز افرادی در پارتی مشغول خوشگذرانی بودند.
